Young Sherlock Holmes

The Young Sherlock Holmes is made up of four books, Death Cloud, Red Leech, Black Ice and Fire Storm. These very hilarious and fascinating books are written by Andrew Lane. There a spin of from the Sherlock Holmes novels, but these are in relation to the young Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock is fourteen years old and is sent off live with his Aunt and Uncle for the school holidays. He is ready for two months of pure boredom, but then he meets Mattie Arnott a poor boy alone in the world, who has seen a bizarre and out of the ordinary - dark cloud. Which has an intellect of its own, emerging out of a window, followed by screams of death. Now Sherlock, Mattie, Sherlock’s tutor Amyus Crowe and his daughter Virginia must survive and solve this mystery of the Death Cloud.

I in fact love Sherlock Holmes, the Young Sherlock Holmes were the first set of books I read about him. I’m glad I read these first cause It gives you an idea of what his life was like when he only began to solve mysteries.

One of my Favourite characters would have to be Amyus Crowe, Mycroft has arranged Sherlock to have something to do in his spare time, so that’s why he sent out Amyus. Crowe is a American tutor with a secretive and mysterious past, but has a vast knowledge of many things.

Theses books were very interesting and filled with lots of action and adventure. These mystery thrillers are a set of books you will not be able to put down, you really had to think about it while reading because there’s just so much to take in.

“Two dead bodies
... One Unforgettable hero
The beginning of a legend”

Although I really enjoyed this book I do have some criticism about it. For one the Andrew kept on repeating himself, there were a few times when Sherlock would turn around then in the paragraph after that he would turn around again. Then there were also times when someone would go and do something then in the next paragraph they would just appear like they never left.

But overall I really did love theses books. I would recommend these books to twelve year olds and up because you really have to think about it and read over a few lines now and then. I cant wait to read the next one Snake Bite which is coming out in September.

They were an incredible tremendous set of books by Andrew Lane.
