The saga of Darren Shan

The saga of Darren Shan is made up of 12 books written by Darren O’Shaughnessy. The books are about a young boy who becomes a vampire to save his best friends life. It shows his struggle to learn there ways and except his vampirism.

I loved the books because there are so many, At first you think that every thing is going to work out for Darren. Then gradually things start to meddle and twist, I cant give away too many details otherwise it’ll spoil it for people going to read the books!

I absolutely loved the characters, they made the book complete. Mr Crepsley was my favourite character, he is very sarcastic, He is suspected to be about 180–200 years old and was once a Vampire General. He’s a very dark and suspicious character.

The only reason I started reading these books was because of the movie. The movie came out in 2009. It wasn’t as amazing as the books, it had none of the details, it didn’t even have half of the description of the characters. But the books are always extremely better than the movie.

I was exited to read this book. I mean it was recommended by J.K. Rowling of all people! I was disappointed when I finished the series. If Darren wrote more books I would definitely intend to read them.

While I did love these books I do have some criticism about it. Firstly, every sentence has an exclamation point and the most important thing to Darren Shan is recess. Secondly, as a horror novel, There is nothing scary about anything in this book at all.

“Or maybe you're going crazy," I throw in.
"Maybe," Kernel agrees.
"I was joking," I tell him.
"I wasn't," he replies.” - Darren Shan

I would recommend it to anyone who loves books that keep you on the edge of your seat. I gave this series of books 9 out of 10 starts because I wish they would of described other characters as much as they did for Darren Shan.

They are an astonishing, overwhelming and breath-taking series of books.
